James McAvoy is the dull sad sack of a man who is recruited by a fraternity of assassins to carry out his destiny. McAvoy’s transition from scared mope to highly trained killer almost took too long, but then it made sense. I get annoyed when some regular Joe gets thrown into, or in this case chooses, a crazy situation, and keeps saying “What the hell?!!” Yes, it’s crazy. Now shut the fuck up and accept it and move on so we can get to the action you spineless dildo. So, that was starting to happen, then he got it and we got to the meat of the story. So my fun hat remained and wasn’t polluted by Gilliganisms. I like all the actors. Angelina Jolie is a great action star. She kicks ass and has that gleam in her eye that says “I like to fight.” We should all be that lucky, Brad. Sometimes I wish my wife would punch me in the mouth or put a gun to my head. I also wish I had a rocket ship, or maybe a time machine, so I could win money betting on Super bowls, but we do live in a imperfect world. And from the Easy Reader to the present, Morgan Freeman is someone I can always watch. Like when “Shawshank Redemption” is on and I stop. I stop every time. Cool slow-mo effects and icy dialogue. Bring it! I must admit that I have grown tired of the endless big-budget blow-em-up car chases and fight scenes. But in this film, they never went on too long and the plot moved along. Wow, there’s an idea. Also, the CGI was not very noticeable, which I like. It always takes me out of it when I feel like I’m watching a video game. The car stunts were very cool. Again, they fit the story and the characters. Not shoe-horned into some silly tale. In the end, I felt like, “I guess I liked it.” I mean, I had fun. I was entertained. So good times. Maybe I wanted a little more. But, like the time machine and solar powered cars, I will just wait. Patience, my son. All in due time. So really I’m just saying this is a good bullet-bending film to pass the time until “Dark Knight” shows up and puts every other action film to shame. Yes, The Batman will save us all.
