As a comic it’s hard to find a mainstream Hollywood comedy that I like. Usually they are watered down, or family friendly nonsense that makes me want to pull my ears off. Like if I have to see one more romantic “comedy” trailer where someone bumps their head and a multiplex full of dolts laughs, I’m gonna get a sniper rifle. This film is not that. It is actually funny. Like, laugh out loud kinda funny. Where you can’t believe they actually put that joke in a film and got away with it. Like watching Ken Jeong jump out of a truck buck naked and knocking guys out with a tire iron. That was amazing and straight up hilarious. No wacky, mix-up buffoonery. Just one funny scene after another. The film starts out after the crazy two days in Vegas that none of these guys can remember what happened or where one of their buddies is. Great story, I’m in. They proceed to try and piece the night back together in hopes of finding their pal so they can get him to his wedding on time. The three guys on the case are Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms and Zach Galifianakis. Cooper is the slick hipster of the group who always has a plan. Helms plays the henpecked, button-down dentist who always flips out. Zach is the weirdo of the clan. The three of these freaks together is a great combo and clearly they were allowed to riff. So many funny lines that it’s hard to remember them all. Also people like Rob Riggle and Bryan Callen come in for funny characters that fill out the whole film. Oh yeah, Mike Tyson, Heather Graham and a Tiger slide in all with funny scenes. It’s so great to see some new faces in the comedy film genre. Especially those comics that have been working in clubs for years and now are getting a chance to break out. I like the guys director Todd Phillips has used in the past, but it was nice to see some friends that I know are really funny get a shot. Phillips knows how to direct comedy and cast the best people. It really works. I’m gonna see this again and again so I can start to quote lines from it, like when I do beer bongs it makes me want to go streaking down the quad. Go see this movie and PALM STRIKE the screen for when the trailer for a wacky screwball romantic comedy invades the theater with its shitball antics. —Graham Elwood
