This movie scrambled my brains so much I don’t have a clue as to what the fuck I’m talking about. Only to say that now I want to sneak around at 3am and put up 20-foot photos of myself on parking garages with a caption that reads, “Wanted for Treason.” just to see what kind of reaction it would get.
I knew very little about street artists and Banksy in particular prior to seeing this film. Afterward I was amazed. This film does what any good doc should do. It takes you into a sub-culture and shows you how it works and who the players are. This is executed masterfully (I know I sound like some pompous dildo, but I’m on a plane and want to come across like a smarty) How can I review this film without running my yapper as though I’m wearing a sweater vest. I’m not sure. Maybe I should just tell you what it is about and how it affected me. Yeah, give ‘em the straight skinny boy-o. (Now I’m talking like it’s the 1920’s WTF) Well 23 skidoo! This talkie is the real mustard.
And to see if my treasonous past would come back to haunt me. And by treason I mean the time I ditched my U-2 spy plane over Cuba. (Seriously I have not one single clue as to what I talking about) All in all this is a good film about an interesting subject matter that is told in a very informative and funny style. Other than that I can’t come up with anything that is worth a damn.
Ok, really it is a documentary about a guy who bought irregular t-shirts and jeans for pennies and then called them “artistic” and sold them on Melrose Ave in LA for hundreds to wannabe hipster suckers. Then he followed around world-renowned street artists and tried to make a doc. The film was crazy and made no sense. So underground artist Banksy decided to make a doc about this guy. The result is hilarious, maddening and a little bit scary. You don’t need to know anything about street artists to love this film.
The movie is great and afterward to you will laugh until you realize that you are laughing at your own insanity. Yes this film will entertain you to the point of madness. And make you see that any lunatic can make fat sacks of cash with tripe. And that is what drove me to the breaking point. So SEE this film and really, why so serious?
