Hey, it’s an abbreviated holiday edition of random film type news! Short and sweet, shall we say?
In this week’s “Oh crap” story, actress Carrie Fisher had a significant heart attack while flying from London to Los Angeles. She is currently in critical condition in an L.A. hospital, and is on a ventilator for assisted breathing.
In this week’s “Uber mess” story, actor Miles Teller and his girlfriend were in a automobile accident in the San Fernando Valley. The actor, who was driving with girlfriend Keleigh Sperry as a passenger, was cut off by an Uber driver and consequently rolled his Ford Bronco onto its side.
Teller tweeted: “Me and @keleighsperry are okay,” he posted. “I hope the other passengers are as well. The other driver pulled into oncoming traffic and bad accident was unavoidable. This woman’s irrational and ignorant decision put our lives and her passengers in very real danger. Happy we could walk away.”
Uber needs to vet their drivers better.
In this week’s “The Force burns” story, Mark Hamill on Friday posted an epic zinger against Donald Trump concerning The Rockettes’ appearing at his presidential inauguration.
The actor, best known for being Luke Skywalker, and The Joker in one of the animated Batman series, tweeted “Good Luck to #TheRockettes at the Inauguration. Have fun, but remain vigilant Ladies! There’s just so much to grab there. #TheyLetCelebsDoIt.”
Obviously in reference to Trump’s pussy-grabbing comments, it’s good to know where Hamill stands on the issue.
In this week’s “Trump v the Entertainment industry” story, it would seem that there is a lot of resistance from, well, a LOT of entertainers in regards to having anything to do with Donald Trump. From his campaign people having tons of trouble finding people to perform at his inauguration, including the Rockettes being pissed off that they have a contractual obligation to do so, to The Beach Boys having been asked, but are still thinking about it.
And Alec Baldwin is referring to Trump as “…the most reviled candidate in our history will become President.”
In this week’s “One more reason to be wary” story, Jesse Eisenberg will appear in the Justice League film as Lex Luthor. Well, that’s annoying.
In this week’s “Everything’s coming up Trump” story, Alec Baldwin has made President-elect Donald Trump an offer to play at his inauguration on 20 January. His song of choice? AC/DC’s Highway to Hell.
Baldwin has been using twitter like this a lot. You know, bashing Trump on the daily. And that’s ok with me.
In this week’s “Promising words” story, director Denis Villeneuve says the cinematography of Roger Deakin’s lives up to that of the original Blade Runner.
Villeneuve bluntly remarks, “Honestly, what Deacons did on that movie (Blade Runner 2049), people won’t be disappointed.”
This has been a tough year in entertainment. 2016 can pretty much suck it. Keep Carrie Fisher in your thoughts, people. She’s only 60, and we need our Princess Leia. So, as you share whatever good times this Christmas season, let’s hope for a better 2017, and May the Force be with you.
~ Neil T Weakley, your average movie-goer, wishing you all a Happy Holiday.
