My friend and fellow stand-up comic Doug Benson is the star of the new feature length documentary “Super High Me” where he went 30 days without smoking pot, then 30 days getting baked off his skull. Here is what he had to say.
CFN: When did you first do stand-up and why?
Doug: Gee, that’s an original question. What’s your brilliant follow up question? “What was your first joke?” Or “What do you want people to say at your funeral?”
CFN: What was your first joke?
Doug: Ha, ha, good one.
CFN: What do you want people to say at your funeral?
Doug: That I was a nice.
CFN: Favorite film.
Doug: Super High Me.
CFN: When did you first get the idea to shoot “Super High Me”?
Doug: It was a joke in my act, but I got drunk and suggested to filmmaker Michael Blieden that we turn it into a movie. He thought that was a good idea. He must’ve been drunk too. So the next thing I knew, I had to quit smoking weed for 30 days, and then smoke it constantly for 30.
CFN: What was the most fun aspect of making the movie?
Doug: Getting to smoke pot while working.
CFN: What was the worst part of making the movie?
Doug: Quitting alcohol for 60 days. It’s a movie about how you act on and off pot, booze didn’t need to be dragged into it.
CFN: Which Presidential candidate will you vote for and why?
Doug: The one I choose in my private voting booth, because he’s black.
CFN: Favorite person to get high with?
Doug: Brian Posehn. Who is not nearly as gay as his character on the Sarah Silverman Program.
CFN: What would the sequel to SHM be called?
Doug: I don’t believe in sequels.
CFN: Title of your biography?
Doug: How To Succeed Without really Succeeding.
CFN: Favorite director?
Doug: Stanley Kubrick. I even liked that shitty Tom Cruise movie he did.
CFN: Favorite Film Nerd?
Doug: That’s a tie between practically every one of my comedian friends.
CFN: What cast member from “OZ” would you want to force you into having non-consentual prison sex?
Doug: The one played by Edie Falco.
CFN: Why did Matrix 2 and 3 suck a bag of donkey dicks?
Doug: Do you mean they suck on the bag that had donkey dicks in it, or that those movies took the donkey dicks out of the bag and sucked them individually?
CFN: Where is the one place you feel inappropriate to smoke pot?
Doug: A donkey dick store.
