This movie got 2 out of 4 stars from Roger Ebert.
He calls it a “lugubrious retread” of something, the rest of the sentence gives away too much!
He criticizes a “lack of creativity in the screenplay”.
He also didn’t like the conclusion, saying it was “embarrassingly excessive”.
I haven’t run into this problem before, but the credits list on Wikipedia is a freaking mess (possible clue!). So, I’m going to use IMDb and start about where the list ends on Wikipedia.
That gives a total of 14 names.August 26, 2013 at 11:16 pm #3767
Is the IMDB cast list in billing order? Sometimes they do crazy order.
Either way I’ll take 14 names.August 26, 2013 at 11:20 pm #3768
The IMDb cast list says it is “(in credits order) verified as complete”, so I believe so. The deal is, it mostly matches up with Wikipedia, but Wikipedia is all over the place. Without giving too much away, there are a lot of cameos and people listed, and Wikipedia just tossed out the cameos all throughout the list, and in an order I didn’t care for at all.August 26, 2013 at 11:25 pm #3769

Going with my usual basic strategy… I’ll take a hair above half.
I’m going with 8 names.August 27, 2013 at 12:38 am #3772
NAME THAT MOVIE.
YEEAAAAHHHHH, DENVER, DENVEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRAugust 27, 2013 at 3:25 am #3773
Welcome to Doug Loves Movies, starring Pete Holmes and TJ Miller. Neither of them have been on in way too long.
Anyway, oooo, bold move! May have been a good one too because these 8 names may not be a whole lot of help!
14 – Dante Basco
13 – Jasen Fisher
12 – Isaiah Robinson
11 – Arthur Malet
10 – Phil Collins(!)
9 – Laurel Cronin
8 – Amber Scott
7 – Charlie KorsmoAugust 27, 2013 at 4:21 am #3774
Phil Collins? You’d think that would be some kind of tip, but other than singing in Disney flicks, I’ve got nothing for him. I was figuring that food fights are a staple of summer camp movies like Meatballs and Camp Nowhere and such, but I feel like those aren’t right. Of course there’s always Rufeyo! Rufeyo! I think they pull that in every DLM episode, but I don’t think that’s the right year either… Can’t remember. Ah screw it.
Congrats on the win Lan, you deserve it.
My answer will be WET HOT AMERICAN SUMMER! Because that movie is The Shit!
It tool place in the state of Denver. YEAH, DEENNNNVVEEEERRR, YEEEEEEEAAAAAHHHH!!August 27, 2013 at 4:34 am #3775
Oh nooooo man, so close! With those two little words you almost had it: Ru-fi-o! Ru-fi-o!
That’s right, it’s Doug Benson’s favorite movie HOOK! Ebert seems to agree largely with Doug on this one. It’s a movie I remember liking but I think that’s because I saw it when I was a kid, and have no idea how it’s held up.
The cast list on Wikipedia is weird, because it has people like Phil Collins and Glenn Close in basically cameo roles, and it lists those names but the order is all over the place. Also, Wikipedia listed the actors who played the young versions of people like Peter Pan and Tinkerbell right under the main actors, so I just said screw it and went with the IMdb cast list, starting with Rufio himself, Dante Basco.
I’d say this game has worked out pretty well, it’s definitely been fun. With more people involved I think it could get complicated pretty quickly, but I had a blast.
I’m going to sit out the next one though, as I’m on vacation this week and am leaving town tomorrow morning. I’ll have my laptop so I’ll be in touch here and there, but won’t be able to get into another full blown game.August 27, 2013 at 4:48 am #3776
Fucked by Rufio! Shit, I three that out there because it keeps on coming up on DLM! Damnit! lol
It was still a great game. We’ve played some nice rounds and had some fun, but I’m ready to take a break too. I think it would probably be a good idea to start a Roger Ebert signup thread for interested members to put their names in just in case they haven’t been following these game threads.
Nice job all around guys. I don’t think these games would’ve been half as good without the awesome activity of LaN and Sgt. Take a bow.August 27, 2013 at 10:21 am #3779
Pardon my somewhat late reply on this thread.
The Parade celebrating my victory ran a little long. 😛
And I totally agree with taking a little break. The amount of times I was checking back on these threads shows a very obsessive personality on my part.
